"Freedom to Read Week is an annual event that encourages Canadians to think about and reaffirm their commitment to intellectual freedom, which is guaranteed them under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms." - The Book and Periodical Council
In honour of Freedom to Read Week, we will be posting our current repertoire of banned or challenged books!
Books are challenged and banned across the world for various reasons (some more legitimate than others), but it is key to our goals as future librarians and role models to embrace these works that others are working so hard to remove from library and school shelves.
To see some of our reviews for banned books from before this week, check out our "Banned/ Challenged Books" tag!
