Juana and Lucas: Big Problemas is the second in the series about Juana and her dog Lucas and their life in Bogotá, Columbia. This book centers her mother getting married and the family moving to a new home. At first, she is skeptical of sharing her mother, but eventually she learns that her new life has a lot of bonuses.

This book is appealing because the storyline would be relatable to many young kids who have experienced their parents remarrying. The artwork is eye catching, and would work well as a first chapter book for young readers.

One limitation is that kids may not always understand the context of the Spanish words throughout the book.

Overall, I think this book is a really fun read and adds to the story of Juana’s life.
