A young Anishinaabe girl explains how she knows each when each season has arrived in this beautiful book from Anishinaabe writer Brittany Luby and Ojibwe artist Joshua Mangeshig Pawis-Steckley. Our protagonist talks about the changes in nature that she notices in each season, including behaviours of different animals, and the changes in weather and the land.
The art is bright and vivid, depicting hot sand in the summer, a mushroom-covered forest floor in the fall, dancing lights in the winter skies, and new growth in the spring slush. This story is written in both Anishinaabemowin and English, allowing readers to engage with both languages as they read and learn about the seasons. This book is a wonderful introduction to how the seasons change and what is wonderful about each one.
