Ron’s Gone Wrong takes place in a dystopian world where a tech giant has created life size robots that are popular with children. The robots are meant to know everything about them and make friends for them. Barney is the only kid without one, but receives a malfunctioning b-bot with violent tendencies for his birthday. He has to work to save his robot from being put in the crusher.
This movie is appealing for kids because it’s funny, fast-paced and features updated versions of the sorts of technology they love. A major limitation is that although the robots have made for a world in which children don’t socialize directly with each other, the movie has the moral that the robots are good. This is a fun movie but without the best outcome.
