This classic story follows young, orphaned Anne Shirley and her new life at Green Gables on PEI after she is taken in by the Cuthbert siblings. Anne is a dreamer and can at times follow her imagination into trouble, but with a good heart and new friends she learns how to carve out a new path in life for herself while never losing the whimsy and love in her heart.
The main appeal of this story, and by extension series, has been and will always be Anne herself. While the story faces some limitations due to it being from 1908 and having the politics of that time, it is still a warm and engaging story to read.
