Electra Heart explores many facets of girlhood that resonate with women and girls of all ages. She explores female archetypes like the homewrecker and prima donna, as well as feelings of existentialism and youthful idealism. She also explores tumultuous teen relationships and sexism. She balances the serious subject matter with bubbly, sickeningly sweet melodies that are impossible not to sing along to, which has allowed the eleven-year-old album to hold up and remain relevant and adored even years after its release.
