Sabrina Carpenter’s Emails I Can’t Send is at times heartbreaking, but equally poppy and fun.
This album has not been without controversy. It was first released amidst the drama of an apparent love triangle, rumours of which started with the release of Olivia Rodrigo’s album, Sour (2021). However, Emails I Can’t Send has been able to stand on its own as an album about the experience of being villainized without having done anything wrong. In particular, many teens will be able to relate to the song “because i liked a boy”. Live performances of her song “Nonsense” have gone viral for her adlibbed musical outros.
