Exceedingly popular among teen audiences currently, Fortnite Battle Royale is a free online video game that is a tournament-style third-person shooter. It can be played on Windows, macOS, Playstation, Xbox, iOS, Android, and Nintendo Switch.
The basic concept of the game is that 100 players “skydive” onto an island, scavenge for gear, construct walls and obstacles to defend themselves, and begin fighting for a gradually shrinking parcel of land wherein the last player standing is the winner.
Although extremely popular, there are some security and parental concerns and the microtransactions through which the game developers chose to monetize can lead to addictive play behaviour as well as credit card theft related to the aforementioned security vulnerabilities. Somewhat similar to Minecraft (2011) and PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS (2016), this game involves scavenging, building fortifications, teamwork, and violence.
