Glee is an ensemble show following a struggling, unpopular glee club, and the strong personalities of the students and staff that are connected to it. It deals with prominent teen issues with a jukebox musical format.
The show is similar to other high school dramedies, though unique in its musical nature. It had an audience of YA viewers and older. In particular, LGBTQ+ viewers can find relatable characters to follow on the show. But Glee also garnered a reputation of clumsily handling serious teen issues, and thus may make some viewers uncomfortable. While often inappropriate and irreverent, Glee is a show with a lot of heart, and an accomplished soundtrack.
