Set in the 1950s, Last Night at the Telegraph Club details the coming out story of a young Chinese American in San Francisco.
This book has similarities to the new adult book One Last Stop by Casey McQuiston (2021) which also depicts a historical queer story. This book is beautifully written and does a great job of describing San Francisco’s Chinatown in the 1950s.
The book may be most enjoyed by older teens or those with a higher reading level due to the writing style and content. This book would be really appealing to LGBTQ+ youth. Overall, this is a really great book that will draw readers in.
