Hosts Asia and Charles revisit the infamous young adult novels of their youth and discuss themes, their previous experiences with the books, and attempt to decide whether they hold up in the present day. Spoiler alert: a lot of them do not. They carefully discuss issues of consent, mature themes and what is considered appropriate for teens, the ways these books shaped them personally for better or for worse.
All in all, this is a light easy listen, and will be especially interesting to those of us who were preteens and teens in the years 2005-2015. However, its scope is pretty limited to this era, so it isn’t necessarily targeted to current teens or anyone older than 30ish. However, the hosts are fun and entertaining, and anyone who has read the books they review could enjoy the podcast.
