To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before tells the story of sixteen-year-old Lara Jean and the journey she goes through after some private letters she’s written are mailed out without her knowledge or consent. Lara Jean finds catharsis and closure in writing letters to her crushes who she never had the chance to be with, though she never means for them to be read by anyone else. Once her private letters get out, she finds herself having to navigate the fallout of five boys confronting her about her feelings, some of which she does still have feelings for.
The story is a fun and relatable tale of teenage crushes, relationships, and teenage embarrassment that takes the reader on an emotional journey with Lara Jean, feeling what she is feeling and rooting for her to end up with the right guy. However, the book does feel a bit on the younger side, and I wish there had been more friendships expanded upon. Han does make up for this with the sweet relationships between the Covey sisters, which feels like a sweet representation of what real sister relationships are like, if not a bit fluffier.
