Presented in first person, this narrative game follows Edith Finch through her searching and discovering her family lineage when visiting her family estate in Washington. Weaving an intricate family tree, Edith, the last Finch family member standing, uncovers family secrets presented through various allegorical tales of their deaths – and in turn, she learns all about their lives.
Easily played in one sitting (maxing out at 6 hours), this game balances familiar sadness with adventure and a thoughtful and thorough narrative. I was expecting a bit more of a horror element when I began playing, but nonetheless, the Finch’s certainly have their creepy moments.
