All Boys Aren’t Blue is George M. Johnson’s memoir manifesto detailing their life growing up Black and queer in America. A controversial book that details the difficult experiences they had coming to terms with these intersecting identities, this book is a must read for anyone who has felt unsure about who they are. This book has similarities to George’s second memoir We Are Not Broken. The honesty in this book is what makes it appealing. George does not hold back when it comes to the hard parts of their life, hoping that their experience can help others who feel unseen or unheard. While controversial to many, this book is well worth the read, and many teens will find solace in George’s words.
