Citation: Kobabe, M. (2019). Gender queer: A memoir. Lion Forge.
Content Warning: There are some sexually explicit themes (including illustrations).
This earnest and meaningful graphic novel follows Maia Kobabe’s (e/em/eir) life and journey discovering who eir are. The memoir begins in eir’s childhood and follows through to Kobabe’s teen years into adulthood as a gender queer, asexual person.
A phenomenal exploration of the shifting nature of gender and sexuality, Gender Queer allows the reader to reflect with Kobabe on the beautiful and at times confusing nature of gender. With thoughtful writing that focuses on the relationship we have with ourselves, this graphic novel will leave you feeling seen (even if your experiences vary from Maia’s!)
