Be prepared to laugh and cry, then laugh and cry again. Like a Love Story is a coming-of-age story of three teens during the height of the AIDs crisis in 1989-90. Out and proud Art rebels against the parents who won’t accept him by becoming an activist with ACT UP. And Judy, Art’s best friend, falls for Iranian born Reza as he struggles with his identity, comes to terms with his sexuality, and falls in love with Art.

This is a poignant story with relatable characters and is similar to other young adult literature in that it explores difficult topics such as sexuality, body image, love and friendship.
