Freshman year can be daunting for anyone, but for someone known as a 'wallflower', it can be especially challenging. Fifteen-year-old Charlie is one of these 'wallflowers'; he's quiet and withdrawn, but that doesn't mean he doesn't have other great characteristics. He's extremely thoughtful and observant, always paying attention to others around him. Readers will go on a journey of adolescence, encountering first dates, drama, sex, drugs, alcohol, and unexpected friends.

This book is a coming-of-age story, where a teenager slowly learns about the complexities of their world. Young adults looking to find their place in this world will benefit greatly from this book, as it teaches teens to accept themselves as they are. The main themes are inclusivity and tolerance, but it should be noted that there are difficult passages that might make some people uncomfortable.
