Content Warning: This book explores discrimination against transgender individuals.
Jazz Jennings knew from a very early age that she was a girl in boy’s body. She is one of the youngest people to be publicly identified as transgender. Her story tells how she and her parents navigated Jazz’s transition at a time when there was very little public information and resources for transgender youth and their families. Although Jazz experiences some discrimination, she does not explore this in depth.
Overall, this is a very positive depiction of being a transgender teen, and a refreshing story of parental acceptance and support. The weakness of this biography is that it is likely not reflective of many trans teen experiences.
