This memoir is a follow up to Jazz’s children's book I am Jazz (2014). Her memoir chronicles her experiences as a teenager, and her experiences being a transgender teenager. Jazz speaks about her very public life, her activism work, and the struggles she has faced by choosing to be herself. This is a memoir about her triumphs and struggles and how her family has helped her every step of the way.
It is a great read for young adults struggling with their identity, and for those looking for LGBTQIA+ empowerment. Jazz does not shy away from the difficulties she has faced, which makes this book a wonderful addition to the bookshelf for any teen reader. It is hard to critique someone writing about their own experiences, and because of that I have no weaknesses for the book, a must read for memoir-loving YA readers.
