Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s (or Philosopher’s) Stone is a fantastical tale of a young wizard finding himself in an unfamiliar world. A tale of an ‘ordinary’ boy thrown into a new wizarding world where he must learn about himself and where he comes from. Harry, along with Ron, and Hermione team up to battle the evils at Hogwarts, while exploring childhood and what it means to have magical capabilities.

A wonderful tale of friendship, and victory for the good guys, for kids from the ages of 8-12, some younger kids may even enjoy having this book read to them.

This book is appealing because it crashes two worlds into one, the mundane reality of a child growing up, with a magical place that can be sinister at times. I give this book a 10/10 for a children's book. It ticks all my boxes of important themes, gripping plot, and likeable/ relatable characters.
